Sync with multiple destinations, How hard?

Feb 2, 2009 at 9:52 PM
What would it take to modify the FileSynchronizer program to sync one folder with several folders. It would have to be a one way sync because it could get pretty complicated to sync both sides with multiple destinations.

I suppose I could setup multiple jobs but that's no fun ;)

I mostly want this for backing up a folder on my local drive to two different storage servers. It may be overkill on backing up but don't want to loose anything.

Also if anyone is adding more features to the program, being able to set the sync so it only goes one way.

Hello Jeffrey,

I explicitely wanted to avoid this scenario, to avoid circular backups. In my code, I check for paths or overlapping parts that might cause this.

It was also hard-coded to perform a full two-way sync, as I wanted to overcome the limitations of using Offline Files.
Feel free to modify the code to have an option to have the user specify the sync method to use.

The Microsoft Synctoy2 utility, can do both things easily, by creating 2 jobs and specifying 'echo' as the method.
